The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is seeking Teaching Coordinators (Math/Science) to provide educational program leadership and instruction to adolescents in residential facilities run by the Department of Youth Services (DYS) in Boston for the 2021-2022 school year. We are looking for collaborative teachers who are committed to working with at-risk youth in small classroom settings. We value professionalism, positive youth development, and culturally responsive teaching. Demonstrated successful teaching experience with high-risk youth highly desirable. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree and a current Massachusetts teaching license in Math or Science, secondary level (8-12).

This is you:
  1. You are innovative, creative and collaborative; and you hold a MA secondary level teaching certification.
  2. You have proven supervisory experience.
  3. You have a passion for teaching, especially youth who have been placed at risk.
  4. You are interested in the opportunity to teach small classes which are personalized that focus on academic and behavioral success.

Highlights of What You Will Do:
  1. Assist the Regional Education Coordinator and Assistant Regional Education Coordinator with coordinating on-site educational services.
  2. Provide educational leadership and direct educational instruction to youth assigned to the Department of Youth Services.
  3. Coordinate educational programming activities as directed and ensure compliance of programming with DYS education requirements.
  4. Support the development and implementation of multiple pathways of learning
  5. Directly supervise teachers and other educational staff assigned to program and support their professional growth
Working Conditions: Onsite work with teachers and specialist at DYS programs and host agencies.

Workplace Health and Safety: CES employees working on site in DYS, DMH, DPH or CHC facilities are required to demonstrate that they have received COVID-19 vaccination, unless a medical (101 CMR 23.04(3)) or religious (101 CMR 23.04(4) exemption applies.

Compensation scale: SEIU CBA salary scale based on licensure and education.

CES Benefits: CES offers a comprehensive benefit package including: Health, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, and voluntary Short Term Disability, enhanced Vision and additional Life Insurance. Health Insurance is offered through Tufts/Harvard Pilgrim and includes two plan options: PPO with a self-funded Health Savings Account, and HMO with a Health Reimbursement Account funded by CES to support a portion of health insurance deductions. FSA and Dependent Care accounts are available. CES is considered a quasi-state agency and provides two retirement options for employees based on eligibility. Employees are vested after ten years of creditable service. Professional development and mentoring offered throughout the school year.
