    JOB TITLE: Nutrition Services Manager in Training (7.5 hrs.)

    LOCATION(S): Global Campus

    PAY RANGE: $15.71 - $22.10/hr.

    WORK YEAR: 174 days August-May (Student contact days)

    REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in food service; experience with school nutrition programs preferred.

    SUMMARY:
    Responsible for learning the operational requirements and regulations needed to serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of friendliness, efficiency, and cleanliness. Work with the Nutrition Services Training Specialist to learn how to effectively support and coach employees and to learn the daily job responsibilities and tasks needed to be a successful Kitchen Manager.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Prepare food according to planned menus and tested recipes. Work alongside and coach new kitchen employees in performing their assigned tasks.
    2. Assist Training Manager with completing daily records, deposits, and money journals, including the Point of Sale.
    3. Determine the quantities of food to be prepared daily.
    4. Communicate with kitchen employees, District staff, students, and community to arrange for and serve nutritious meals at assigned District schools.
    5. Assist Training Manager with supervising and instructing kitchen personnel in the safe and proper preparation of food.
    6. Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
    7. Assist Training Manger in ordering all necessary supplies in compliance with order schedule.
    8. Check in food shipments by verifying orders and signing off on invoices.
    9. Check equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition and notify the Nutrition office when repairs or replacements are needed.
    10. Maintain kitchen employee time records and the monthly inventory of kitchen supplies.
    11. Fill in for Training Manager and/or absent manager at another location as needed.
    12. Provide food for special events scheduled in assigned building. Assist with larger events outside of building.
    13. Attend manager meetings and all staff development provided, which may include meetings outside the District.
    14. Prepare all end of month paperwork, turning it in the last day of the month.
    15. Perform other duties as assigned.
    16. Vaccinations may be required

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
    Criminal background check required for hire. Valid Colorado drivers' license.

    DIVERSITY OF DUTIES:
    Duties require cross training in bookkeeping, health department guidelines, and supervision. Duties extend within assigned building.

    TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
    Oral and written communication skills. English language skills. Mathematical skills including basic calculations and application of math concepts. Supervisory skills. Personal computer and keyboarding skills. Customer service and public relations skills and professionalism. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of nutrition services. Knowledge of child nutrition and Health Department guidelines preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, use time efficiently, demonstrate attention to detail, follow instructions and respond to management direction. Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, and building and department procedures. Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report any unsafe conditions.

    SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY:
    Directly supervises 1-6 Nutrition Services Assistants. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and assisting Director with interviewing and hiring employees, appraising performance, and rewarding and disciplining employees.

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
    Operating knowledge of mixer, dishwasher, slicer, computer, and adding machine preferred at hire; required within 3 weeks after hire. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals. Operating knowledge of and experience with office software. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; bend; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch, squat, twist, balance, reach above shoulder, and grasp. The employee is occasionally required to sit, crawl, kneel or climb. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    MENTAL FUNCTIONS:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, instruct, and use interpersonal skills. Frequently required to compare, analyze, coordinate, compile, and negotiate. Occasionally required to copy, compute, and evaluate.
