HOURS/FTE: This is a 7hrs/9mo position in our Nutrition Services Department for the 2021-2022 school year located at the River Ridge Elementary School.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This KSFSA food service position is open to in-district food service employees and food service substitutes only. It has flexible hours which may vary from day to day.

ASSIGNMENT: This KSFSA food service position is 7 hours per day. Under the direction of the elementary field manager or their designee this position performs duties required for meal service in order to support the nutrition program offered to the students and staff of the Kent School District including meals for special programs, catering and BBQ's. Responsibilities include using efficient methods of school meal service; heating and serving student and staff meals following the department preparation and service procedures; maintain accurate records, completing daily reports and banking procedures; demonstrating the ability to work with school staff, students, parents and fellow employees. Follows and maintains proper food safety, sanitation and temperature control; keeps the kitchen including the equipment clean and in proper working order.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must be a current, permanent KSD employee in the KSFSA bargaining unit or a food service substitute.
  2. High school diploma or GED.
  3. Current food handlers permit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Knowledge of large scale food service and safety and sanitation procedures.
  2. Knowledge of large scale food preparation procedures.
  3. Ability to work in a team setting developing good working relationships with school staff, students, parents and other food service employees.
  4. Ability to keep accurate records, handle cash receipts cashiering experience preferred.
  5. Basic computer skills and knowledge, ability to learn and use the current Point of Sale system; ability to use email.
  6. Strong customer service, listening and communication skills.
  7. Willingness to learn and improve food service skills and knowledge by making use of educational opportunities including KSD Staff Development.
  8. Previous food service and distribution experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience or training preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This work requires standing, walking and occasional sitting, some over the head and shoulder lifting, repetitive motions, repetitive lifting of up to 40 pounds, working on wet or slippery floors, bending, pushing, pulling, stretching and working with ovens, milk coolers and other kitchen equipment including cleaning chemicals, and frequent exposure to a visual screen.
