    PURPOSE
    The Behavior Interventionist will serve as a key member of the Student Support Services Team and School Based Team in working with parents, teachers and other partners in providing a holistic approach to design behavior modification plans for identified students. They will not provide direct therapy, rather, he/she will provide assessment, program design and monitoring of treatment interventions. He/she will meet with students whose behavior warrants intervention, to prevent behavior from escalating and developing behavior tracking and intervention programs. In addition to a specialized skill set, success in the position requires demonstration of a genuine concern for students, parents and teachers in a climate characterized by high personal and student expectations. The incumbent must be able to work cooperatively with parents and generate confidence in the teacher, team and school community at large. Please note that this is a 12-month position.
    Essential Functions
    • Acts as liaison between the school and parents for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals.
    • Assists in developing interventions and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and nurturing educational environment for students with challenging behaviors.
    • Support teacher by providing tools to assist students in developing routines and structures conducive to a positive learning environment.
    • Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students.
    • Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
    • Active member of the RTI Team.
    • Responsible for designing and implementing behavioral strategies for students as an intervention ahead of the official formation of a behavioral plan.
    • Attend IEP meetings and assist with Manifestation Determination meetings for students on his caseload.
    • Track and analyze office referrals to improve school-wide culture.
    • Conduct classroom observations and give teachers feedback on classroom management plans and systems.
    • Handles infractions that fall under Group 1-2 Acts of Misconduct.
    • Facilitates peer mediations.
    • Observes and documents behavior of individual students; maintains accurate logs of student progress.
    • Providing parents with effective outside referrals for outside services.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Job Requirements
    Education, Training and/or Experience
    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services.
    2. 2+ years of experience in an education, mental health or related community service with youth.
    3. Excellent interpersonal skills with young children, families, and teachers.
    4. Relentlessness in the pursuit of excellence and a "whatever it takes" attitude.
    5. Capable of contributing individually and collaboratively.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physically demands require the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, walk around the classroom and kneel upwards of 60% of the day. In addition, walking up and down stairs several times a day. Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of time and push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Majority of work performed in a general office environment. Position may require availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
