The Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator will support all aspects of social studies education and work closely with the social studies team and the Office of Curriculum and Instruction under the supervision of the Social Studies Supervisor.

The Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the vision, mission, and theory of action for K-12 social studies education in the District, particularly in the area of curriculum/assessment development and professional development centered on research-based instructional practices that span content areas and lead to cross-curricular integration. The Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator will work alongside the Social Studies Supervisor and Curriculum and Instruction team in developing and delivering presentations for various stakeholders, including teachers, central office staff, and school leaders. The Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator will also assist in the provision of appropriate materials and texts to enhance the curriculum and professional development offerings of the social studies department.

Support Administrator Salary Schedule, Level 3 (starting at $96, 943)

Qualifications :
Candidate must be committed to continuous improvement with the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. In addition, we are seeking candidates with the following educational and experiential requirements and knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Valid PA teaching certification required · Valid PA Supervisor or Principal certification required
· At least three years of social studies teaching experience
· Strong content knowledge in integrating literacy strategies into social studies
· Expert knowledge of the PA Core Standards
· Excellent presentation design and delivery skills
· Experience with curriculum and assessment writing
· Data analysis skills
· Ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, poise, tact, and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.
· Ability to work collaboratively as a team player, under pressure with multiple competing deadlines, and with culturally, educationally, and racially diverse internal and external customers.
· Ability to innovate, research and think creatively.
· A capacity to solve problems, to stay organized, and manage multiple priorities.
· Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and TEAMS.
· Values, demonstrates, and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Essential Job Functions :
1. Develop social studies curriculum aligned to the PA Core standards

2. Lead teachers in developing social studies offerings

3. Develop and review assessments to ensure rigor and alignment to the PA Core Standards, historical thinking skills, the National Council of Social Studies Standards, and informational literacy skills.?

4. Work closely with the Supervisor of Social Studies to develop presentations for various stakeholders, including teachers, central staff, and school leaders

5. Deliver professional development sessions to various school and central office stakeholders

6. Research effective social studies and content-based literacy practices and incorporate them into professional development and curriculum

7. Work directly with and alongside academic coaches, teachers, and school leaders to support literacy in the content areas.

8. Collaborate with key central office departments to enhance professional development and curriculum

9. Assist in the provision of appropriate materials and texts to enhance the curriculum offerings of the social studies department

10. Continue to grow personal professional practice around social studies, culturally relevant pedagogy, and coaching best practices

11. Completes informal and formal observations, and contributes to the evaluation of social studies teachers throughout the District.

12. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
