The Opportunity After School Program (ASP) Assistant & Front Desk Support(K-8) Competencies and Qualifications

Lodestar Community Charter School's Extended Day Program (afterschool program) is looking for an After School Program Assistant & Front Desk Support who is relentlessly committed to ensuring quality afterschool programming, and that traditionally underserved students of color achieve our mission of completing college and securing the career of their choice. ASP RESPONSIBILITIES (Approximately 80%)
  • Maintain organized and thorough attendance records for program.
  • Maintain payment records for program.
  • Maintain and regularly update program enrollment, rosters, and emergency contact information.
  • Support in communication with families and school community via phone, newsletter, email, publication, in-person, etc.
  • Support in planning and execution program events and celebrations.
  • Provide support and coverage to program as needed (Program Assistant will work directly with youth, and occasionally cover for Extended Day Program classes as needed).

FRONT DESK RESPONSIBILITIES (Approximately20%)
  • Be the first person of contact for visitors and families to the school
  • Support the front desk staff with lunch breaks as needed
  • Receive, screen and route phone calls; answer questions, or refer to appropriate staff person
  • Support with student Registration and other Logistical events
  • Managing, sorting, and in some case responding to mail

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least one school year experience working with youth.
  • Demonstrated experience serving in diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining detailed and organized documentation and information.
  • Fluent in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms.
  • TB Clearance within the last 4 years. (must obtain prior to direct work with youth)
  • Background clearance from the FBI and DOJ LiveScan. (must obtain prior to direct work with youth)
  • First Aid/CPR certified. (must obtain prior to direct work with youth)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain cooperative and working relationships with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple developmental levels of age groups.
  • Interest in working in a professional, collaborative, and responsive school environment dedicated to high academic outcomes for every child.
  • Prior training and use of Restorative Justice practices is a plus.
  • Prior experience in extended day and afterschool programming is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.


Time Commitment:

10-month - 190 workdays, (.80 FTE) in ASP role and (.20) in Front Desk Support Role. Schedule consists of about 8.5 hours, five days a week, with typical work hours between 10:00 am - 6:30 pm and 10:15 am and 6:45 pm on Wednesday. Position starts immediately.

Supervision:

This role reports to the Extended Day Program Coordinator.
