GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting and supplementing the classroom instructional program with specific responsibilities for maintaining overall operations of school technology; and supplementing teacher's instructional plan as it relates to technology, digital citizenship and technical information literacy. This position also assists students and staff with maintenance of building technology, provides computer instruction for students (as noted below), and supports classroom teachers to utilize technology to enhance instruction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides computer instruction and activities for students (e.g. keyboarding, word processing, digital citizenship, etc.) meeting Technology and Information Literacy Grade Level Expectations and/or complementing classroom instruction performed by the classroom teachers.

Assists and supports teachers as they develop blended learning activities and navigate the district's learning management system (LMS) and digital resources (e.g. course outcomes, implementation of effective teaching strategies, coaching results, etc.) developing relevant and personalized learning for all students.

Supports and assists teachers as they 1) administer performance tests assessing student competency levels and 2) develop technology-based individual learning plans.

Assesses and troubleshoots malfunctions of hardware and software applications determining appropriate actions to maintain site technology.

Assists and instructs staff and students with the use of technology facilitating project-based learning.

Collaborates with the Blended Learning Specialist utilizing technology to enhance instruction.

Implementation of the Primary Years Program.

Participation in official IB training which may require travel.

Uses district-approved resources to assist students with digital citizenship and to build capacity for success.

Assists with the annual distribution and collection of student devices to ensure effective maintenance of devices.

Participates in meetings, in-service trainings, workshops and professional learning in order to convey and gather information required to perform job functions.

Reports health and safety issues to instructional personnel, administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies (e.g. fights, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors, etc.) maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.

Performs other related duties, as assigned, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Assists with adjunct duties (e.g. cafeteria duty, bus duty, proctoring, Open House, etc.) supervising campus activities.

Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, required.

Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Missouri Teaching Certification, required.

Elementary Teaching Certification, preferred.

Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information; compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.

Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent computer hardware and software applications; age appropriate activities/behaviors; and methods of instruction and training.

Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: applying pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; communicating with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; operating computers; operating standard office equipment; performing standard clerical procedures; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing pertinent software applications.

Ability to read technical information and compose a variety of documents.

Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
