  • TITLE: Title I Math Curriculum Specialist
    REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Title I Programs
    SUPERVISES: N/A
    JOB FUNCTION: Be knowledgeable in and model evidence-based effective practices to Title I schools' staff in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and standards. Recommend and/or provide professional learning opportunities that accelerates student learning in achieving targeted outcomes.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assists in formulating and writing the Title I Programs to correlate with the philosophy and objectives of the curriculum framework.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (cont.)

    • Works directly with the Associate Director of Title I Programs for the implementation of the approved Title I Programs in the Title I schools.
    • Plans with the Associate Director of Title I Programs in directing the work of the Title I staff in carrying out the intent of the project.
    • Works with the principals of the Title I schools in planning for the implementation of the Title I Programs.
    • Works directly with the Title I teachers and instructional assistants in carrying out the Title I Programs in the Title I schools.
    • Identifies needs and cooperatively plans with the Associate Director of Title I Programs for the pre-service and in-service needs of Title I staff in the Title I schools.
    • Helps coordinate and conduct pre-service and in-service sessions for the Title I staff.
    • Maintains a schedule for regular visitation in the schools to assure compliance with the Title I federal guidelines and to monitor the quality of instruction.
    • Assists in identification and purchase of supplies, materials, and equipment for use in the implementation of the Title I Programs in the Title I schools.
    • Helps interpret test data to staff and helps coordinate the testing program in selecting, ordering, and collecting tests required for the Title I Programs.
    • Assists in the orientation of the new Title I staff.
    • Assists in the coordination of the Title I Programs in the non-public schools and at the neglected/delinquent institutions.
    • Cooperates with the principals and instructional staff in the Title I schools for parent involvement.
    • Provides to the Associate Director of Title I Programs information regarding the effectiveness of the Title I Programs in the Title I schools.
    • Attends local staff meetings and professional meetings upon approval.
    • Disseminates information concerning new trends, innovations, and research in instruction.
    • Maintains an inventory of non-consumable materials and equipment for each Title I school.
    • Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
    • Maintains regular attendance.
    • Performs other job duties as assigned.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
    • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
    • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
    • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
    • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Master's Degree or completed requirements for a Rank II Classification and a minimum of three (3) years of successful elementary or middle classroom teaching.

    LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must hold a Valid Kentucky Teaching certificate for Elementary School or Middle School.
