QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associates Degree or High School Diploma/G.E.D. and evidence of education or testing requirements according to PDE guidelines .
  2. First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
  3. Bi/Multilingual skills oral/written preferred.
  4. Experience working with students preferred.
  5. Ability to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations.
  6. Ability to be flexible and adapt to various and challenging environments.
  7. Ability to work as an individual and as a team member.
  8. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of customer service skills and professionalism.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  10. Ability to operate a computer and applicable software and devices.
  11. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  12. Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  13. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal or Designee.
SUPERVISES: Not Applicable
JOB GOALS: To assist in the establishment, maintenance and safety of our school culture, surveillance and control over the non-instructional activities inside and outside the building, ensuring that all students are successful and contributing members of the school community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Monitor/supervise daily arrival and dismissal activities, including directing on-campus traffic.
  2. Maintain security of the building site.
  3. Monitor student behavior in corridors/stairwells, lavatories, and cafeteria as assigned.
  4. Assist in intervening and de-escalating student altercations as appropriately trained.
  5. Help to maintain a safe learning environment by assisting students in following appropriate procedures and rules.
  6. Provide varied levels of supports and interventions depending on individual student needs. (Using this for MTSS item)
  7. Provide appropriate academic interventions as needed.
  8. Create mentoring relationships with students and help them to strive for and find academic success.
  9. Be a liaison between students, teachers, administrators, parents, and visitors in the building.
  10. Assist with In School Suspension (ISS) placement and escorting these students for special services.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Monitor/Supervise activities that may be planned by school personnel.
  2. Assist in maintaining student accounting records as needed.
  3. Must be willing to engage in ongoing professional development. including but not limited to - Equity, Restorative Practices, CPI, PBIS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School Year

EVALUATION: For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, bending.
Occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, squatting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Sensory Abilities:
Normal/corrected vision.
Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screen.
Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone and greet individuals.
Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.

Temperament:
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Must be courteous and able to deal with people effectively.
Must be cooperative, congenial, and service oriented.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Must have the ability to be flexible.
Ability to exercise a high degree of patience and tolerance.
