Main Purpose of Job

This position plans, implements, and coordinates employment services for individuals being served at the Workforce & Technology Center. This position works in partnership with the local business community to develop job opportunities, and provides job placement and coordinates job supports, as needed, to promote successful worksite integration, and assists consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment. This position also works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of comprehensive services and to ensure the application of federal and state laws, regulations and Division policy in the provision of job placement services that will result in individuals with disabilities obtaining and maintaining gainful employment consistent with their skills, capacities, and vocational choices as defined within their developed Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).

POSITION DUTIES

Place individuals into employment and provide support services. Perform job development and job placement activities for DORS consumers who have graduated from WTC Training Programs and support employment services to other regions as needed; provide job seeking skills training; consult on job readiness and placement issues, labor market trends, ADA and accommodation issues for DORS staff and consumers; interface with businesses throughout the state to develop employment, internship and on-the-job training opportunities and to provide information and technical assistance on employment of individuals with disabilities; assist in staff training on job development/placement and labor market issues; maintain liaison with organizations and committees concerned with employment; give presentations as needed related to employment; maintain files on businesses, job ready consumers, and job orders; document consumer contact and job placement activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree.

Experience: Two years of professional experience in a behavioral or social science related field is required.

Note: A Master's Degree in a Behavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the VR and/or Human Services - related field.
  • Experience with providing career counseling and case management.
  • Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience preparing others for employment, using job seeking tools and resources.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
