Department Description:

The School Psychologist Coordinator works with the Supervisor of Psychological Services to strongly promote the professional supervision of school psychologists, as a means of assuring effective practices to support the educational attainment of all children. The School Psychologist Coordinator must be knowledgeable about and experienced in the delivery of school psychological services in order to promote adherence to high standards, assure appropriate, high quality services to children and youth, and provide appropriate evaluation of personnel. Further, the School Psychologist Coordinator will also promote ongoing professional development as a means of improving practice and student outcomes, and adapting roles to meet changing needs of the school community.

Salary Range: $96,538 - $141,771

Detailed Description:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Works and oversees office committees;
  • Directs the continued organization of handling professional psychological files;
  • Provides support to the Supervisor for supervision, coordination, operation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of office goals and objectives;
  • Closely monitors and evaluates the needs, and delivery of, psychological services provided in ED, CSEP, CRI and other special education programs;
  • Gathers and maintains quarterly psychology computerized activity service logs from staff members;
  • Arranges for staff coverage for various meetings and conferences when the assigned psychologist is ill or whenever a crisis occurs within a school;
  • Maintains psychometric database for the OPS according to need and contractual services available and coordinates all referred evaluations;
  • Assists in providing direct supervision to all school psychologists; including conducting observations;
  • Participates and conducts mid-year and end-of year evaluations for assigned staff designated by Supervisor and assists in the development and review of their job targets;
  • Actively participates on assigned county and department committees as assigned by Supervisor;
  • Coordinates with the Speial Education Office, the Office of Professional School Counselors, The Compliance Office and General Counsel to identify, define, revise and aqddress issues pertaining to the delivery of psychological services.
  • Serves on the Behavioral Threat Assessment Overight Committee providing training and oversight of school based Behavior Threat Assessment teams and occasionally completes behavior threat assessments. Also serves on the Adult Threat Assessment Team to develop and implement policies.
  • Assists with the procuring, maintaining, and allocation of equipment, supplies, and materials necessary in the delivery of psychological services;
  • Shares in the PGCPS leadership at the county and state level for psychological services issues;
  • Assists Supervisor with managing department budget accounts, mileage, office supplies, etc.;
  • Assists with the development of school assignments for the psychological staff;
  • Assists with the supervision of secretarial staff;
  • Assists with the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of new staff and interns;
  • Handles all IT needs for the Office of Psychological Services; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Must have an advanced graduate specialist's, or doctoral degree, in School Psychology from an accredited college or university; National Association of School Psychologists, NCATE, American Psychological Association, or State Department of Education approved program; twelve hundred (1,200) clock hours of internship experience while enrolled in a school psychology program.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Possession of or eligible for a Maryland School Psychologist's Certificate, or
  • Possession of or eligible for Certification as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP);
  • Possession of, or eligible for, Maryland certification as Supervisor of School Psychological Services or
  • Possession of, or eligible for, Maryland certification as Administrator I.

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Supervises school psychologists, school psychology interns and support staff assigned to the Office of Psychological Services.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
