Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a member of the Human Resources team, the Benefits Associate will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Human Resources department in a variety of manners. Main responsibilities include supporting day to day benefit and leave administration, maintaining KIPP DC's Human Resource Information System (HRIS), and collaborating with other Talent teams on cross-functional projects. The Benefits Associate works closely with various departments, including Payroll. This is an exempt position and will report to the Associate Director of Benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration Support - 45%
  • Manage and respond to benefit and leave inquiries in HR support inbox (Zendesk)
  • Enroll and make changes to employee benefit enrollments as necessary
  • Support and present benefits information in new hire orientation
  • Support with open enrollment
  • Submit changes to payroll in a timely manner as needed
  • Liaise with payroll team on benefit related issues
  • Partner with the Benefits Manager on benefit reconciliation including invoices, employee deductions, etc.
  • Partner with benefit vendors on escalated employee concerns and questions
  • Partner with the HR Customer Service team on benefits related issues/concerns.
  • Support other responsibilities and projects, as needed

Leave Administration Support - 35%
  • Support KIPP DC wellness initiatives and programs
  • Be an additional point of contact for employees requesting leave including sending paperwork and creating leave calendars
  • Submit workers compensation claims
  • Partner with HR Manager (Benefits) as it relates to employees on leave
  • Support other responsibilities and projects, as needed

Auditing and Compliance - 20%
  • Reconcile benefit invoices
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Support the periodic auditing of benefits and 403b related data
  • Proactively engage in other information vetting processes as needed
  • Support with job description management
  • Assist with compliance and internal audits


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • One to two years of relevant experience required
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP DC's mission
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Proactive to identify problems and come up with solutions
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability of work product
  • Results-oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done
  • Flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate a high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
