Devereux will be opening a new program providing therapeutic residential care services for unaccompanied minors through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Devereux will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally-competent residential and educational services for these children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. Each child's care is individualized to their needs, with a team of professionals providing consistent support through individual assessment and counseling, group counseling, medical and mental health services, behavior management, education and vocational services, and safety planning.

Devereux's ultimate goal is to ensure every child receives best-in-class services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey as well as to help them connect either to shelter or foster care, or to their sponsor.

The Bilingual Paraprofessional is responsible for maintaining a nurturing, trauma informed, therapeutic treatment environment that is conducive to healthy emotional growth among and between clients while assisting with academic instruction in multicultural, multilingual classroom. This position is responsible for implementing culturally responsive strategies and use teacher created lessons plans/activities. Responsible for performing appropriate behavioral management, providing therapeutic activities and programming in a manner consistent with orientation and ongoing trainings meeting Devereux, federal and state regulatory standards. The Bilingual Paraprofessional is part of multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for implementing individual's treatment objectives and goals as assigned by clinical team. This position provides education to individuals on everyday aptitudes and skills, creating an atmosphere of openness that facilitates learning and understanding of acculturation. The Bilingual Paraprofessional serves as a role model of behavior and attitude in supporting individuals' academic, social and vocational integration.

Hourly rate $18-23/hr

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in related field preferred. Certificate in English language learner or courses TESOL or ESL Certificate preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum six months' experience in collaborative learning environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, be empathetic and have a team approach to care for our individuals, be energetic, organized, creative, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to be comfortable in multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Ability to read and implement teacher created lessons plans/activities preferred
  • Must be able to complete and provide proof of current influenza vaccination

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children

The state of Colorado mandate requires all employees to befullyvaccinated against COVID-19. To be considered for employment, you will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (s)or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to your start date.
