Long Term Substitute Nurse
2021-2022 School Year (3 days per week min)
Out of District Placement
Current needs: Tuesday- Thursday
Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse, CPNP or LPN in Massachusetts.
Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
Experience in child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Ride the van to and from school with the student
Escort the student to all classes pushing a wheelchair at times
Give academic assistance when needed
Be able to work independently with student as needed depending on the day
Assist with field trips
Watch for evidence of possible respiratory distress and gastrostomy tube displacement
Watch for evidence of possible infection and/or aspiration
Assist with Bathroom breaks and make clothing changes when needed
Provide nursing services to student populations on a day to day, as needed basis.
Assessment, triage and treatment of acute illness.
Communicate with parents, faculty/staff and healthcare providers as needed.
Provide emergency care in cases of injury or sudden illness.
Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the building Principal and/or the Director of Student Services
Salary: In accordance with FPS Substitute Rate
