REACH Academy Charter School is seeking highly qualified teachers that have a combination of skills and attributes that align them with the REACH Academy Charter School Mission. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all students in their classes are achieving at high levels both academically and socially and are prepared for high levels of achievement in life.
There are 2 openings for Teacher in Development.
* Grade 3 Teacher in Development
* Grade 4/5 Teacher in Development (half day in 4th grade and half day in 5th grade)
Certification for this position is not require. You can be working towards completition of your certification
Pay for a Teacher in Development Position is $40,000 annually.
Required Knowledge and Skills for Open Positions at REACH

• Stong teaching ability and enjoys working with children;
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking in English;
• Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the REACH commuinity;
• Obvious passion for the academic subject matter being taught;
• Commitment to equality and inclusion;
• Willingness to adapt to an exisiting curriculum model as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs;
• Excellent attendance and punctuality;
• A clear understadning of and appreciation for the goals and criteria of REACH Academy Charter School;
• Knowledge of Lucy Calkins Readers and Writers Workshop;
• Experience with center based learning for the academic subjects of reading, writing and math.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and execute lessons;
• Co-teach with master classroom teacher;
• Participate in professional development trainings and weekly team planning meetings;
• Analyze and use data to drive instruction;
• Enforce school policies and rules;
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom;
• Observe, and assess student's performance/progress;
• Provide individual assistance to students experiencing learning difficulty; explain errors answer questions, assist in research, clarify directions;
• Be able to effectively communicate with students, teacher and in some cases parents;
• Help teacher prepare materials and assignments for instruction;
• Perform clerical duties as assigned;
• Keep classroom neat and in order;
• Perform other duties assigned by the Head of School.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education or working towards completion of.
• Hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in respective area.
