The State Director, Shared Services performs and/or oversees operations special programs, testing, accountability and family engagement services of multiple school operations with an emphasis on compliance activities at all levels, internal and external to the K12 organization. He/she is responsible for directing the short-term and long-term strategic goals. The State Director provides leadership, thoughtful execution of initiatives and ensures the shared services departments are operating effectively and efficiently. He/provides solutions for complex issues and teams with internal, external stakeholders and vendors to move initiatives forward while adhering to state, local, federal requirements and best practices.

  • Provides leadership exhibiting professionalism and high standards that celebrate staff achievements; acts as chief administrator of a K12 managed school;
  • Often works with multiple Board(s) of Directors acting as chief administrator of one or more schools; manages regulatory complexities and political sensitivities; implements the school’s mission, vision, and strategic planning initiatives driven by K12 and Board(s) of Directors;
  • Oversees all shared services departments (operations, special programs, testing, accountability, family engagement services) for all K12 schools and programs across the state; Manages annual school evaluation and accreditation processes for both;
  • Oversees budgets for special programs, departmental staffing, professional development, facilities and all office spending and services for schools within state including digital file maintenance. Develops and manages relationships with education vendors, the districts, state and other education stakeholders; Acts as point-of-contact and manages reporting issues including all local, state, and federal reporting requirements;
  • Consults with K12’s legal team, the Board of Directors, and Human Resources to appropriately handle any legal issues; ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws;
  • Works closely with government affairs team to support and advance the online educational movement within the state;
  • Develops plans and policies for the shared services departments serving multiple schools in the state and submits them to Board of Directors for approval; ensures policies and programs are carried out appropriately by all students, parents, and staff;
  • Ensures school program are in alignment with authorizing agency requirements;
  • Supervisesshared services administrators assists with a wide variety of personnel support issues;
  • Effectively recruits, hires, and retains highly qualified staff; develops effective staff members through an ongoing evaluation process and professional development;
  • Oversees Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables functions for the school.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 5-10 Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree AND
  • Ten (10) years of relevant professional experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong leadership skills (leading people, leading change, communicating and building coalitions, exercising good business judgement, and driving results)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MSWord, and Outlook
  • Strong technology skills
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time including out of state
  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in Business or other relevant field of study
  • Formal project management experience in fast-paced or start-up environment

    • This is an office-based position. We are seeking applicants that are driving distance and able to work in the Midwest City, OK office. We anticipate a typical school office setting including conversation, light foot traffic, computers, etc.
