Qualifications:
An Instructional Coach is a certified, highly qualified teacher who demonstrates leadership skills and has expertise in curriculum, instructional strategies, child development, classroom management and knowledge of adult learning theory. Candidate must hold an active Connecticut Educator Certificate.

Reports To:
Principal and/or Central Office Supervisor.

Job Goal:
The primary role of the Instructional Coach is to support teaching and learning through modeling, coaching and professional development to improve and accelerate student achievement through quality instruction.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with staff to collect and analyze data for professional development needs in the schoolCoordinates, monitors and delivers district mandated staff development as well as staff development identified by the school staffSupports the common vision, mission, values and goals of the schoolUnderstands and works to improve school culturePresents at faculty meetingsCollaborates with staff to ensure involvement in decision making for all participantsDemonstrates and participates in continuous learning and professional growthSupports the development of a coherent instructional program with clear and well articulated standardsIdentifies resources within the community to enhance school efforts for student achievementCreates opportunities for individual and group learning by expanding the ability of teachers to achieve stated goals for student achievementPlans and facilitates grade level meetingsAssists teachers in transferring theory into practiceAssists teachers in the process of administering and interpreting assessment data to improve student achievement in a timely mannerDevelops a plan to coordinate school efforts to support beginning teachers in the BEST ProgramFacilitates the induction of beginning teachers into their professional roles and responsibilitiesRecognizes and supports additional leadership capacity within a schoolAssists teachers in the planning and delivering of appropriate instructionSustains learning through modeling and coachingProvides direct instruction for individual students and students in small and large groupsAssists with any other related instructional task assigned by his/her immediate supervisor

Qualifications: An Instructional Coach is a certified, highly qualified teacher who demonstrates leadership skills and has expertise in curriculum, instructional strategies, child development, classroom management and knowledge of adult learning theory. Candidate must hold an active Connecticut Educator Certificate, 092 strongly preferred. Strong knowledge in play-based learning (Prek-3), CSS, Curriculum Integration and Reading/Writing.

Terms of Employment:
By contractual agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Teachers' bargaining unit.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and the New Haven Teachers' Contract.
