Primary Purpose:
The Assistant Director works collaboratively under the guidance of the Director of School Counseling to provide leadership and vision in the organization of policy and procedures to effectively deliver a comprehensive and developmental guidance program. The Assistant Director serves as a liaison to all campuses and provides service in three functional areas:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; frequent district-wide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; may work prolonged or irregular hours.

- Technology and Web Support
- Data Collection and Dissemination
- Training Workshops. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development to include training defined in the district mission for Academic Advising/School Counseling
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counselor certificate EC-12
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Qualifications include strong organizational program development and communication skills, creative thinking/reasoning abilities, demonstrated competency to oversee multiple tasks with attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and external constituents including students, faculty, and staff
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organizational, communication, customer service skills, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
Experience:
- Five (5) years school counseling experience
- Three (3) years of high school Lead Counselor experience
- Pull periodic reports with campus data for auditing purposes
- Provide technology and web support to counselors and academic advisors
- Coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development to include training defined in the district mission for Academic Advising/School Counseling
- Advocate for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversity
Policy, Report, and Law
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Recommend changes to district policies and develop and update procedures and guidelines related to counseling programs and services
- Adhere to legal, ethical, and professional standards for school counselors including current professional standards of competence and practice
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents
