SUMMARY

Under general supervision, coordinates and supports Full-Service Community Schools; develops programs through community partnerships by collaboration, resource sharing, and data tracking.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinates and supports the implementation and alignment of Community Schools.
  • Conducts ongoing resource mapping and needs assessments.
  • Compiles, recommends and recruits potential resources; assists with negotiating partnership service agreements and memorandums of understanding.
  • Collaborates with department leads on implementation priorities and logistics for the purpose of fulfilling requirements for full service community schools and Every Student Succeed Act as it relates to Title I Family/Community Engagement.
  • Researches, analyzes, and synthesizes data to provide suggestions for programmatic decisions.
  • Facilitates collaboration and cross-referrals between community partners.
  • Participates in community committees and events to increase community engagement efforts.
  • Coordinates planning and communication with school leaders and key community stakeholders.
  • Coordinates daily program operations; evaluates and analyzes program issues, and recommends and implements solutions.
  • Promotes and markets programs, develops promotional media, flyers, e-marketing, and public service announcements.
  • Completes and coordinates special projects and research assignments.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field; AND two (2) years of experience working in community program strategy and development; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:
  • Applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Grant and project reporting, including data collection and evaluation.
  • Community and family engagement strategies.
  • Local community resources, regional community services programs, and regional training programs.
  • Strategy development, service implementation, and program evaluation efforts.
  • Personal computers utilizing standard software, and s pecialized MPS and state agency software applications and procedures.
  • Principles of record keeping and records management.
  • Safety rules and regulations.

Skill in:

  • Understanding and applying program standards and procedures, applicable Federal and state rules and regulations, and MPS policies and procedures.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Identifying problems and opportunities, and developing solutions.
  • Planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of assigned staff.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Providing effective customer service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients and community agencies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work and heavy phone usage.

Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
