Position Summary

Gov. Kate Brown has directed that Oregon will implement a legal requirement that all public and private school teachers, staff and volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. "Fully vaccinated" is defined as 14 days after receiving all required doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (currently two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine). All staff members will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Exemptions may be made only for eligible medical or religious reasons. There will not be an option to opt out for other reasons or choose testing in lieu of vaccination, under the state mandate.

Eugene School District 4J is accepting applications for licensed (substitute) Guest Teachers for the purpose of establishing an on-going pool of candidates. Qualified candidates will be contacted by 4J Human Resources for interviews/screening as needed.

The Eugene School District may consider applicants if the candidate holds an active Oregon Substitute Teaching License issued by TSPC. Candidates in the Guest Teacher Pool are not guaranteed employment.

The primary purpose of this position is the instruction and supervision of a diverse group of students keeping within the law, board policies, and administrative regulations. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of the individual student. Instruction and supervision include student guidance, classroom management, and knowledge in subject areas taught and District and state standards. This is demonstrated by appropriate curriculum design, instructional practices, and student progress assessment.

  • ESOL endorsements preferred and/or Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Evidence of multi-cultural experience and cultural competency.
  • Must have passed criminal background check.

Additional Information

The 4J school district likes to think of the Licensed Guest Teacher pool as a pipeline for contracted teaching positions. If you are offered a Licensed Guest Teacher position it is encouraged that you submit official transcripts upon processing with the Human Resources department.
