PURPOSE OF JOB: Manages the foodservice program for multiple sites according to Kansas City Public school district's policies, procedures, and methods
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and training in the professional development of cafeteria personnel for multiple sites and promotes good working relationships
Supervise assigned workforce by planning work schedules adjusting cafeteria personnel as required, keeping attendance records, and preparing payroll certifications and reports as required. Ensure coverage and efficient use of budget (time, labor, and materials) used in cafeteria operations
Oversee the daily completion of time sheets, reviews payroll reports, leave slips, and additional hour authorization forms with the Area Supervisor prior to submitting to payroll
Cooperate with school administrator, teachers and staff in management of cafeteria operations and promote Child Nutrition program educational values and plan student cafeteria activities
Direct and oversee all aspects of menu compliance, food choices, food ordering and preparation, distribution and sanitation from central kitchen to multiple satellite locations. Ensure compliance with Child Nutrition Services directives
Ensure completion of daily records including all steps required to monitor temperature and accurate usage for all meals served in compliance with approved collection procedures and State and Federal guidelines
Inventory and order appropriate food, supplies and equipment in correct quantities for multiple sites as scheduled. Ensure food, supplies and equipment are checked and delivered in correct quantities
Complete timely accurate records and reports; deposits money in the bank daily; deliver completed records and invoices to the Account Technician daily/weekly; and complete end of the month reports
Maintains high standards of sanitation as required by departmental procedures and Health Department requirements; performs sanitation self-inspection weekly according to procedures manual
Complete ongoing evaluations of unit operation, service and personnel
Collaborate with Supervisor/Director relating to operation of the school
Participate in In-Service Training programs are required and recommended
Other duties assigned by the Director of Child Nutrition Services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent with a working knowledge of mathematics
Knowledge, training and experience in institutional or quantity cooking
Documented training and experience in managing a food service operation
Experience in training, supervision and evaluating food service personnel
Experience in ordering and storing foods and supplies
Oral and written communication skills
Elementary business and bookkeeping skills
Good disposition, dependable, cooperative
Ability to organize and work harmoniously under pressure
Ability to exercise good judgment
Good health and neat appearance
Must possess or be willing to obtain, a certificate in applied food service sanitation (ServSafe or equivalent) within 90 days
Job requires stooping, bending, walking and standing most of the work day
Job requires lifting and handling institutional equipment, pots, packages and cases containing food and supplies
