    TITLE: Career and College Pathways Coordinator

    REPORTS TO: Principal, New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus

    SUPERVISES: n/a

    PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Career and College Pathways Coordinator develops, implements, and maintains enhanced college and career services and programming school wide to include career exploration, college knowledge and search activities, employment information, and career information events to promote student access to career and college pathways.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month unaffiliated position. Other terms are set by the Board of Education.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares, implements, and leads programming for Grade 9 - 12 on college and career information.
  • Meets one-to-one with students (11th and 12th grade) for individual Student Success Plans.
  • Meets in small groups with students (9th and 10th grade) to begin Student Success Plans.
  • Coordinates, plans, and delivers College and Career Readiness workshops for students and staff.
  • Develops community and business partnerships and augments/maintains an NLPS partnership book.
  • Works with community and business partnerships to create and/or expand career exploration internships.
  • Attends local Chamber of Commerce and other business meetings/events throughout the year to sustain and/or enhance relationships with the business community.
  • Coordinates with the Department of Labor's American Jobs Center for student career planning, resume writing and work preparation workshops.
  • Engages with the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System and assists students seeking opportunities to explore that programming.
  • Conducts college visits and organizes student visits to Historically Black College and University campuses.
  • Works with School Counseling Staff to ensure students are actively engaged and demonstrates growth pertaining to College and Career Readiness.
  • Collects relevant data related to College and Career Readiness and generates reports for a variety of communications and audiences.
  • Facilitates the creation and placement of job shadowing, work-study, and summer work placement opportunities.
  • Engages with the NJROTC program to enhance and expand opportunities for students seeking military careers.
  • Utilizes Naviance with an emphasis on improving usage and student engagement with the goal of helping students clarify their long-term goals for school and life.
  • Coordinators with colleges and universities to develop and implement Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) that define each partner's responsibilities.
  • Maintains and updates College and Career Readiness information on the school's website.
  • Provides and promotes service excellence through courteous, informed, and professional engagement.
  • Researches and analyzes labor market trends to identify pathways that may be of interest to students.
  • Collaborates with school and community members to seek and write grants to support College and Career Readiness opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Three years of experience in an educational, training, or social services environment is required, to include experience working in an environment serving diverse populations
    • Experience in grant writing, budget development and grant implementation
    • Ability to collect, analyze, report, and respond to data
    • Ability to engage with diverse audiences and work with culturally diverse students, families, and staff


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bilingual English/Spanish
    • Working knowledge of Naviance or other College and Career Readiness software
    • Knowledge of different learning styles and training techniques
    • Ability and willingness to work as a team member and to work independently with little supervision
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and student data privacy


    PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Principal, New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus in consultation with the Assistant Director of Magnet Pathways, IB Programming and Operations

    SALARY RANGE: $66,600 - $81,400 Based on previous experience
