    JOB TITLE: Teacher-ESSER

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    The Teacher-ESSER is responsible for providing support (campus or student) for the successful implementation the instructional Theory of Action in accordance with District goals, policies and procedures.

    All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

    QUALIFICATONS:
    Required:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university ·
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned ·
    • One year of student teaching or approved internship

    Preferred:
    • Two years of successful classroom experience ·
    • ESL certification

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    • Teach in accordance with staff assignment.
    • Display effective teaching practices.
      • Complete effective lesson plans with immediate and long-range goals.
      • Develop lessons appropriately.
      • Use time effectively,
      • Choose appropriate materials and activities.
      • Present subject matter clearly and interestingly.
      • Coordinate and plan with team members, when appropriate.
    • Administer the classroom to create an environment conducive to learning.
      • Organize the procedures for effective classroom management.
      • Organize the assigned area in an efficient, appealing manner.
      • Provide flexibility for individual and group activities.
      • Practice positive discipline techniques that help students gain self-control and responsibility for their actions.
      • Maintain a positive, accepting attitude in working with students.
    • Cooperate with school personnel in providing for student welfare.
      • Supervise behavior and safety of students in classes, between classes and during school-related activities on and off campus.
      • Work with counselors, administrators, parents and other staff members to place students in the most effective educational setting.
      • Instruct students in school safety and emergency drill procedures.
      • Participate in special activities and programs provided for students and parents.
    • Initiate communications with parents.
      • Inform parents about programs for students.
      • Make parents aware if problems arise.
      • Keep parents informed about student progress.
    • Cooperate with appropriate program directors.
    • Administer an appropriate record keeping system.
      • Maintain accurate records for student evaluation and progress.
      • Maintain accurate attendance records as required by building, District and state regulations.
      • Maintain accurate records for all textbooks, materials, and funds provided by the District.
      • Maintain records of parent contacts, conferences, disciplinary measures and referrals to other school personnel.
      • Meet required record keeping format and timelines effectively.
    • Exemplifies professionalism in behavior and performance.
      • Cooperate with staff and administrators, sharing work willingly.
      • Work with team leaders and principal to benefit from evaluation by using strengths and improving areas of needs.
      • Exemplify professionalism and creates a positive attitude toward the teaching profession.
      • Promote understanding of District programs and policies.
      • Remain current in education and the specific areas of instruction though literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations and college courses.
      • Adhere to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and supports the District's philosophy.
    • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned based on the specific need of your assigned campus.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.     This position is funded by Federal/and or State grants, you understand that your employment is expressly conditioned on the availability of full funding for the position. If full funding becomes unavailable, your employment is subject to termination or nonrenewal, or reassignment as applicable.

    To maintain teacher stipends (bilingual, math, science, critical shortage, department chair/lead), individuals must work directly with students for 80% of the day.

    The district currently has 38 campuses that include 26 prekindergarten through 5th-grade elementary schools, seven 6th- through 8th-grade middle schools and five 9th- through 12th-grade high schools. That number will change soon with the construction of several new facilities – including two middle schools, three ninth-grade centers and a state-of-the-art stadium that will serve the entire district – all funded by a bond referendum approved by voters in 2016.
