E nterprise Data Architect Position Summary ... NWEA is looking for an Enterprise Data Architect who will lead the architecture for NWEA's data pipelines, data warehouse, and analytics. This position works with product and technical roadmaps to chart a forward course that balances quarterly deliverables and supportability. This position requires a strong background in technologies for data pipeline, data lake, and data warehousing, ideally with previous experience implementing Snowflake and AWS serverles s technologies. This position will help design our end-to-end data pipeline, defining how data will be stored, integrated, consumed, and managed by different data consumers. Your Next Challenge ...
Partner with Product Management and Business Stakeholders
  • Play a central role in an NWEAs effort to introduce and successfully implement new data infrastructure and technology
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor by providing objective, practical and relevant advice
  • W ork with business stakeholders to align solutions to business strategy and requirements
  • Determine options in making build vs. buy decisions based upon business capability model, resource capacity, and risk
  • Assess and communicate the business impact of tech nical options
  • Educate stakeholders on the value proposition of data architecture tooling and practices
  • Advocate on the use of emerging technology for maximizing business benefits

Develop Reference Architecture & Standards
  • Create architecture artifacts (logical architecture diagrams, workflows, data flow diagrams, presentations, etc.) effectively communicate solutions to varied audiences
  • Ensure reference architecture meet policies and requirements for technical standards, security, operation, a nd support
  • Research, prototype, and document the organization's best practices based on industry standards for new technology usage

Provide Governance of Data Storage Strategies
  • Lead organization-wide effort to create an enterprise data model
  • Support platform consolidation efforts in migrating to common foundational data models
  • Creating, defining, or choosing consistent data storage solutions for applications
  • Provide continuity across each major application solution decision

Support Delivery Teams
  • Build deep relationships with data engineers across the company
  • Provide support to development teams for solving enterprise-wide challenging technical problems through the application of prototypes and knowledge of industry best practices
  • Me ntor others on software design, construction, and development methodologies through one-on-one interaction, meetings, and brown bag sessions
  • Prototype, as needed, to engage with other technical minds and vet solution ideas

Skills and Abilities ...
  • Understanding the different data architecture patterns (e.g., Data Mesh, Data Lakehouse, Data Mart, etc.)
  • Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture (when the data architect initiates, evaluates, and influences projects from the perspective of the entire organization)
  • Able to articulate and advocate strategy and direction for technology and architecture throughout the organization
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and develo pers

Education and Experience ...
  • Experience with Snowflake and implementation of data warehouses, data lakes
  • Significant experience with modern data pipeline tools for both batch processing and streaming
  • Experience transforming from classic data warehouse and ETL architecture to continuous stream-based analysis
  • Expe rience designing solutions that run highly concurrent workloads in production on modern data warehouses
  • 5+ years of experience in developing enterprise data solutions in a fast-paced company or technology consulting environment
  • 5+ years of experience as an architect using AWS technologies (e.g., Kinesis, Redshift, Lambda) and knowledge of current AWS best practices in data services
