Job Summary

Designs, plans, develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates, and revises all Arts programs in Kindergarten through Twelve (K-12) instruction.

Essential Functions

1. Manages Arts Program operations; recruits, selects, orients, trains, coaches, counsels, and disciplines staff. Plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews staff job contributions

2. Develops and reviews comprehensive district Arts plans for curriculum improvement, implementation, and articulation across schools and levels. Develops programs and plans professional development.

3. Evaluates effectiveness of program implementation and the alignment of school and district goals and objectives with state and national subject area standards.

4. Provides direct assistance, input, and support to classroom teachers relative to curriculum and instructional methodology and accountability. Works closely with District and school staffs to support school improvement initiatives and processes. Aligns and coordinates feeder pattern programs and strengthens dedicated and non-dedicated art and music programs.

5. Develops and coordinates programs and management systems and efforts of school-based staff or department heads. Trains school-site administrators on visual and performing arts programs. Assists principals with recruitment and placement of visual and performing arts teachers.

6. Represents the district at the national, state, and local levels; speaks to parent and community groups; and serves on district, state or community councils or committees. Works with outside agencies to apply for and maintain grants.

7. Participates in the evaluation and selection of materials and equipment appropriate to teaching of assigned curriculum in the schools. Participates in the coordination, development and/or teaching of in-service courses.

8. Coordinates planning and staging of district-wide activities in the area of Arts Integration. Develops, aligns, and problem-solves with community partnerships.

9. Responds to inquires and concerns and interprets programs, philosophy and policies to school staff, parents, students, and the community.

10. Assists all teachers with integration of visual and performing arts across the curriculum.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years successful teaching experience in the arts (K-12, preferred) and administrative or supervisory experience in arts programs.
