Teacher Evaluation Support Manager

Since 2012, CPS has adopted new procedures to evaluate teachers, principals, and assistant principals. Introducing complex new processes necessitated the creation of new technology tools, tracking systems, and communication methods. CPS seeks a passionate, data-driven individual to manage critical aspects of the evaluation system and related Talent Office processes. This individual is driven to provide exemplary customer service to end users who work every day with students and families, so that they can focus energy on direct services to students and families.

The Teacher Evaluation Support Manager will manage the Probationary Assigned Teacher (PAT) tenure attainment, Non-renewal and will support the Reflect and Learn Team (RLT). The RLT supports the web-based system where evaluators log evidence and ratings for evaluations across the District. This position will ensure the RLT provides excellent customer service, with a focus on continuous improvement. This involves close collaboration with other departments, including but not limited to IT, SQM, and Assessment. The Teacher Evaluation Support Manager will be responsible for managing the relationship with the vendor who houses the Reflect and Learn System. The Teacher Evaluation Support Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Teacher Evaluation.

The Teacher Evaluation Support Manager will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the "days worked" count for all PATs to determine and track tenure attainment
  • Communicate tenure attainment status for PATs who are on and off track for tenure attainment
  • Support the PAT Non-renewal process
  • Coordinate evaluator assignments in the Reflect and Learn System
  • Support the launch of a new online tool for the 2022-23 school year, including creating and executing a training plan and communications plan
  • Provide in-person training as needed to a variety of stakeholders who regularly use RLS
  • Manage the technical aspects of Principal and AP evaluation within the Reflect and Learn System
  • Manage the CPS Dashboard to track educator observation completion
  • Build a Principal and Assistant Principal evaluation tracking system in Dashboard
  • Participate in regular calls with PowerSchools, identifying opportunities to improve RLS, ensuring CPS users have a seamless experience when using the tool;
  • Track data to ensure that RLS Team is fulfilling end user needs in a prompt manner (RLS inbox, Google form requests, etc.);
  • Collaborate with other members of Educator Effectiveness to create comprehensive calendar, identifying key dates and deliverables for REACH, Principal Evaluation, and AP Evaluation;
  • Support the staffing and fit testing requirements Care Room Attendants
  • Other duties as assigned.


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Teacher Evaluation Support Manager must possess the following qualifications:

Type of Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university


Type of Experience Required:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in human resources or administration with an in-depth knowledge of how evaluation systems, processes, and programs are inter-connected.
  • Experience leading teacher evaluatin processes in a school or school network is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of major quantitative & qualitative monitoring methodologies and proven ability to design evaluation instrumentation tools;
  • Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage several work streams simultaneously;
  • Capable of building and sustaining positive, productive relationships with stakeholders;
  • Excellent listening skills; empathetic and able to infer meaning and read people;
  • Strong strategic thinker, able to weigh competing priorities quickly to determine the appropriate path to success;
  • Outcome-focused, comfortable using data to make recommendations and/or decisions;
  • Comfort with ambiguity and establishing a direction on one's own with frequent support but minimal direct supervision;
  • Strong interpersonal, relational, and presentation skills; comfortable leading discussions;
  • Comfort collaborating and communicating across a diverse range of audiences, including executive leaders, principals, teachers and support staff;
  • Exceptional written communication skills; and
  • Commitment to CPS leadership's vision for success, including support and respect of colleagues and the communities CPS serves.


Residency Expectation:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), an employee must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago or become a resident within six months of the date of his/her employment with Chicago Public Schools.
