The purpose of Propel’s District Content Coaching Model is to ensure educators receive job-embedded coaching on the usage of high quality standards-aligned curriculum, equitable instruction, and student engaged assessment practices. District Content Coaches will focus on a particular content and grade span to lead educators in disrupting inequitable scholar outcomes.

Propel District Content Coaches work collaboratively as part of the Academic Team. As an organization, we have made a commitment to providing high quality curricula. This role seeks to ensure all scholars have access to grade-level work, are afforded high expectations, and are supported in the most effective ways to accelerate learning.

Key Job Elements:

Providing support to educators using Propel District Content Coaching Model
  • Increase scholar achievement in all subgroups
  • Analyze scholar data and scholar work using an equity lens to drive daily instruction
  • Incorporate research-based district approaches to ensure scholars have access to strong instruction, grade-level content, high expectations, deep engagement and differentiated lessons within an inclusive setting.
  • Provide regular feedback to educators to refine instruction and influence next steps
  • Engage in reflection and inquiry with educators
  • Establish relational trust with educators and leaders.
  • Build capacity in educator use of protocols and inquiry-based facilitation through the modeling, co-planning, and co-teaching of lessons.
  • Conduct coaching cycles that are targeted and progress monitored on scholar-centered outcomes.
  • Build meaningful relationships. Use those relationships as a strong foundation in your shared work, whether with a teacher, your teammates, or school and system leaders.

Professional Development
  • Co-plan and co-facilitate professional development.
  • Assist with Curriculum Mapping team, goals, and professional development
  • District Content Coaches provide job-embedded coaching to the educators to whom they are assigned.
  • District Content Coaches provide observations and feedback aligned to Danielson’s Framework to help support educator development.
  • Leverage best practices in adult learning to rapidly develop educators’ capacity to deliver challenging, empowering, and engaging lessons.
  • Onboarding and ongoing support for new teachers
  • Actively seek out additional PD needed to drive personal growth and specific needs.

Assessment and Data
  • District Content Coaches will progress monitor the effectiveness of their coaching based on scholar outcomes, including walkthrough data established by each content, scholar work, curriculum-embedded assessments, and benchmark/state assessments.
  • District Content Coaches provide significant support to schools to ensure effective implementation of Propel’s MTSS Model so that learning is accelerated for all scholars.
  • Establish and monitor goals with educators that are clear, focused, measurable, and aligned with district goals.
  • District Content Coaches will assist in all required state-wide assessments and preparation.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and Senior Director of Academics.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Education
  • PA Certification required within a content area.
  • A minimum of 5 years successful classroom experience in a K-12 setting
  • Superior organization and prioritization skills with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, coaches, teachers, and staff
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Constant sense of urgency and ability to execute tasks
  • A commitment to constant learning and improvement, in both your own work and the work of others.
  • Reflective and solution-driven
  • Strategic and long-term planning skills
  • Proficiency in Google Applications as well as Microsoft products
  • A deep commitment to culturally relevant teaching
  • Experience in using standards-aligned curriculum
  • Possess deep knowledge of the content, instruction, and assessment practices related to the position
  • Must have ability to travel to multiple locations

Preferred:

Experience in urban education

Familiarity with Student Engaged Assessment Practices

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to walk around the classroom at least 75% of the time while engaging with scholars.
  • The person in this position constantly operates a computer and other technology in the classroom to support instruction.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with various internal and external stakeholders regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • When deemed age and/or developmentally appropriate, assist students in daily personal tasks (i.e.-tying shoes, assisting with coats, escorting to busses, and etc.)
