    Purpose:
    The Virtual Virginia ("VVA") is seeking applicants for the following position:

    The Instructional Coach is responsible for implementing the organization's efforts related to providing faculty training, on-demand coaching, and high quality instruction.

    Applicants must:
    • Possess, or be pursuant of, the K-12 Administration and Supervision endorsement (Virginia).
    • Have online instructional experience (3 yrs min) and evidence of quality online instruction practices.

    The Instructional Coach will:
    • work as a colleague with VVA faculty to support student learning through continuous improvement of instructional practices
    • focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about research-based effective instruction for the VVA faculty
    • provide personalized, 1:1 faculty support based on the VVA program goals and identified needs of individual faculty members
    • participate in VVA content delivery development or revision as assigned

    Compensation: $1500/monthly

    Essential Functions:
    • Support the philosophy and vision of Virtual Virginia
    • Facilitate the professional development of VVA faculty with a focus on improving student achievement
    • Provide strategies for VVA content delivery via live sessions and course facilitation
    • Create positive relationships with VVA faculty and VVA administrators
    • Communicate and demonstrate data and researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
    • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
    • Provide individualized coaching with VVA faculty participants to support them in implementing good instructional practices
    • Complete monthly walkthroughs of courses and report issues or updates
    • Meet weekly with other coaches and administration
    • Provide VVA-specific Canvas Help as needed
    • Training in Instructional Strategies and Applications
    • Take a role in faculty meetings re: instructional strategies
    • Work with administration to identify areas of improvement for teachers and create a plan for assisting teachers in those areas
    • Attend relevant conferences at the direction of Executive Director
    • Monitor instructor progress toward Professional Growth Goals

    General Responsibilities:
    • Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions as needed
    • Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for VVA faculty as needed
    • Provide support in analyzing student assessment and performance data
    • Support VVA PLC program
    • Assist VVA faculty with designing instructional decisions based on assessment and performance data when requested
    • Assist VVA faculty with specific activities when requested
    • Provide support for learner motivation and management strategies
    • Assist the Curriculum Supervisor in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum
    • Provide VVA faculty resources related to instruction and curriculum
    • Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues
    • Model effective, differentiated instruction when requested
    • Provide encouragement and emotional support to VVA faculty
    • Encourage ongoing professional growth for VVA faculty
    • Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximizes VVA faculty schedules and learning
    • Work positively toward meeting identified VVA program and program area improvement goals
    • Assist with development of VVA program curriculum, instruction and resources
    • Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with VVA faculty
    • Possess an understanding of when to contact VVA administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics involving students is observed
    • Perform duties as assigned by VVA administration
    • Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions
    • Assist VVA faculty in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments
    • Work collaboratively and collegially with other Instructional Coaches, Curriculum Supervisors and Specialists, and VVA administration

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Minimum 2 years experience in online education with VVA or equivalent experience
    • A record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with colleagues
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture positive relationships with members of the VVA faculty
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities including giving and receiving constructive feedback
    • Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions
    • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
    • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve
    • Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities
