LIVE INSTRUCTION AND AVAILABILITY DURING THE SCHOOL DAY HOURS OF 8AM AND 3PM ARE REQUIRED.

Purpose Statement

The Launch Gifted Educator - Adjunct will deliver and provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for developing student success in academics and/or skills; supervising students in a part time online setting; collaborating with teachers, professional staff and administrators to deliver pre-designed curriculum and course work; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Launch teachers are expected to be positive promoters of online learning opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions
  • Provides both synchronous and asynchronous instruction to students who participate in gifted education programs. Instruction will occur during the traditional school day.
  • Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations and Students' achievements and developing methods for improvement.
  • Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student acheivement.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing regular, high-quality feedback to students, parents and administration.

  • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g. grades, test scores, attendance, anecdotal records, lesson plans, ) for the purposes of providing up-to-date information, historical reference and documenting student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Monitors students and manages student behavior in an online environment for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in job-related area, required.


Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
  • Missouri Gifted Education Teaching Certification, required.
  • Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 5% walking, and 75% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
