Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Exempt, per contract or offer agreement

Social Security Contribution: Ineligible

Salary: Teacher Salary Schedule (based upon days worked in position)

Benefits Offered: Fully Benefited with Accruals. Benefits will only be offered during the duraction of the semester/assignment.

Elementary Homeroom 2021-2022 Launch Teacher Expectations

Purpose Statement

The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Launch Elementary Homeroom Teachers (1st Semester (Fall) Temporary).

Springfield Public Schools also provides Launch Virtual Courses to over 300 school districts in the state of Missouri. This position will support elementary programming by providing either math or ELA instruction as well as some integrated social studies and science unit support. This is an adjunct position.

Essential Functions
  • Provide virtual support and face-to-face ( via virtual conference using software provided by Launch) tutoring for elementary students in virtual programming through Launch.
  • Provide support to the instructional program with speci?c responsibility for facilitating learning within an online platform.
  • Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
  • Supervise students in online environments.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, other professional sta? and administrators in addressing instructional issues.
  • Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
  • Administers mandated test programs and/or subjects speci?c assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Analyzes test data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
  • Demonstrate methods required to perform classroom and/or subject speci?c assignments for the purpose of providing an e?ective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Facilitate student learning (e.g. creating a learning environment, integrating technology, arranging ?eld trips, organizing age appropriate activities, etc.) for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through de?ned lesson plans.
  • Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics and/or skills through a de?ned course of study.
  • Maintain a variety of con?dential and non-con?dential manual and electronic ?les and records (e.g. grades, test scores, etc.) for the purpose of providing up to date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. Professional Development, department meetings, Whole Faculty Study Groups, IEPs, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Report health and safety issues to administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies (e.g. ?ghts, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.


Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, required

Certi?cates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
  • Missouri Elementary Teaching Certi?cation, required
  • Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Quali?ed" status as de?ned by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information; compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent computer hardware and software applications; age appropriate activities/behaviors; and methods of instruction and training.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: applying pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; communicating with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds; operating computers; operating standard o?ce equipment; performing standard clerical procedures; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing pertinent software applications.
  • Ability to read technical information and compose a variety of documents.
  • Ability to analyze situations to de?ne issues and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing de?ned but di?erent processes; and operate equipment using de?ned methods.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with ?ngers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or ?ngers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
