Primary Purpose:
Responsible for performing a variety of maintenance & plant operating duties for the facility's Maintenance Department. The Master HVAC Technician is
guided by a general knowledge of building trades; HVAC (environmental and refrigeration), low voltage control systems, electrical, plumbing, mechanical
system repairs, plant maintenance, and the use of tools and basic maintenance supplies.

Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
High school diploma or GED; clear and valid Texas driver's license; minimum 10 years experience in commercial HVAC installation, repairs, and controls;
HVAC Contractors License with TDLR, must be Class A; endorsements for environmental and refrigeration.

Major Responsibilities:
- Facilities Maintenance and Repair - Cleans, lubricates, performs repairs, or diagnoses malfunction of HVAC equipment, dietary equipment,
ice makers & refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, electronic signaling systems, thermal loop systems, pumps, drives, and other plant
and specialty equipment items ; discuss with Foreman and Director for contract repair when work cannot be performed by district staff; work
cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to schedule and complete repairs; estimate cost of repair projects including labor,
materials, and other related costs; and perform repairs and assist skilled workers to complete repairs as needed.
- Inspection - Inspect all district facilities and initiate repairs as needed; conduct district-wide equipment inventory and assessment; and
monitor and inspect contract work.
- Communication - Communicate with district administrators and staff about HVAC job scheduling, PM scheduling, and equipment issues;
articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of maintenance to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Keep
proper records of refrigeration use and inventory as specified by the State of Texas and TDLR.
- Safety - Provide training and orientation to all skilled workers in safety procedures and proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment for HVAC
related work; follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operate tools and
equipment according to established safety procedures; correct unsafe conditions in work areas and promptly report any conditions that are not
immediately correctable to supervise; follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities; ensure that all school
employees who perform HVAC work have the necessary training and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment; and conduct regular
inventory of physical equipment and supplies and maintain accurate records; and order tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.

- School/Organization Improvement - Assess and respond to needs related to job responsibilities; contribute to the recommendations of
sound policies directed toward program improvement; and design feasible projects for implementing innovations.
- Personnel Management - Evaluate job performance of apprentices to ensure effectiveness; make sound recommendations in regards to
supervised personnel for training and job performance.
- Facilities Management - Be available for after-hours emergency calls and dispatch as needed; assist in the utilization of the Maintenance
department budget; and assist in recruiting, screening, selecting, training, and evaluating of HVAC employees.
- Professional Growth and Development - Take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments; and
demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible and serves as a role model for maintenance operations staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Conserve electricity as outlined in the districts energy management plan.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of construction, maintenance, and security.
- Have a minimum of 10 years of commercial HVAC troubleshoot, installation, and repair.
- Ability to train and lead personnel as needed.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Effective organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of installation, design, and repair of commercial and residential HVAC equipment and controls.
- Ability to operate all equipment required for HVAC installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assist with evaluating the performance of HVAC apprentice personnel assigned to the maintenance department.

Power and hand-held HVAC equipment; hand tools; power tools; light truck or van; frequent walking, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping,
pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; frequent climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist
flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving; heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis; work outside and inside,
on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, vibration; exposure to chemical and
electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent
district-wide travel; and maintain emotional control under stress.
