General Statement of Duties

Provides support services for the classroom teachers.

Essential Duties

  • Reinforce curriculum through actively interacting with children.
  • Participate in the planning and implementing of daily instructional and non-instructional activities for all children
  • Actively engage children in the classroom, during lunch and outdoor play.
  • Accompany children to the bathroom.
  • Assist children with personal needs, when necessary.
  • Assist with record keeping, organization, and preparation of materials.
  • Communicate classroom needs and concerns to teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality of classroom/child/family information.
  • Participate in training and workshops. Maintain a log of these activities.
  • Complete required training - (First Aid, CPR, and Child Abuse training).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in general education classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; ability to operate adaptive equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators.
Must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and
  • Passing score - 455 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (HCPS website for testing information), or
  • A minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university;


Additional Information

The minimum salary for this 204-day/10 month position is $22,039 ($14.90 per hour)
The annual salary stated in this posting is based on the 2021-22 adopted fiscal plan. The annual salary for the 2022-23 school year will be determined when the HCPS School Board approves the Fiscal Plan later this spring.
