School Nurse/Special Education Nurse
QUALIFICATIONS:
SUPERVISES: This position is not supervisory, though does provide direction and support to staff implementing health services.
JOB GOALS: Provide direct and indirect health services to students and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school health services program to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered nurse with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing
- Community health or school nursing experience preferred
- Evidence of strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with people
- Evidence of good ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Strong knowledge of the health care needs of children
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess students' physical and emotional health to plan and develop an individualized plan for the provision of health services at school.
- Plan and oversee the provision of first aid and emergency care to students during the school day.
- Collaborate with community agencies and district staff to promote health and wellness for students, families, and staff.
- Assist students and families in accessing health care and social service resources.
- Plan and supervise the care of students with special health care needs, including training of district staff providing this care.
- Provide staff training on student health conditions.
- Consult with parents and health care providers.
- Participate in the planning and operation of the school health services programs to aid in preventing and controlling communicable diseases.
- Maintain student health records.
- Assist in the identification, follow-up, and reporting of child abuse/neglect cases.
- Assist in the evaluation of district Health Services.
- Assist the Coordinator of Health Services where appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 184/186 Contract Days. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.
