High Roads School of South Suburbs operated by Specialized Education Services, Inc . (SESI). SESI Schools provides specialized education programming for K-12 students who require additional educational and positive behavioral supports to overcome challenges that impede success in a traditional school setting.

The Opportunity
The Instructional Specialist will work closely with the principal and resource team to coordinate and evaluate the educational program. The Instructional Specialist will act as a mentor and resource to the classroom staff and work closely with all departments on implanting the educational programs. In conjunction with the school Principal, this position will be a key player in the recruiting, interviewing, selecting , and overseeing the onboarding for new staff.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following
  • Work closely with classroom staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs, and determine student assignments in regards to special education programs
  • Assist Principal with recruiting, interviewing, and on-boarding new campus staff members
  • Develop and implement transition planning and services/Indicator 13
  • Maintain IEP database and student file scan database
  • Prepare and attend students' IEP meetings, assure documentation is accurately completed prior to the meeting and provide ongoing monitoring to ensure ISBE compliance of students' IEPs
  • Plan and implement staff and parent education relating to special education programs
  • Maintains close working relationship with the school district, parents, and community
  • Provide and monitor crisis intervention at the school
  • Organize, plan and deliver training for professional development and staff meetings
  • Actively participate in Education Committee meetings and relay information to the resource team

The Qualifi cations
  • Current Illinois Special Education Certificate (LBS1)
  • Experience working with a similar population in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with staff in a coaching capacity
  • Strong professional communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to record and analyze data utilizing excel and google drive
