General Responsibilities:
The teacher aide agrees to act in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the school and parish, and to cooperate with the principal and classroom teacher in matters that pertain to the educational program of the school and the particular classroom to which the aide is assigned. Applicant must have an associates degree and have experience in a child care or school setting.
Essential Tasks:
- Works for and in cooperation with the assigned classroom teacher.
- Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school and classroom matters.
- Assist in providing individual and small-group instruction for the students. i.e. Circulates and offers assistance to students who are struggling with the material, either referred by the teacher or based on observation.
- Assist in maintaining standards of student behavior. i.e. Monitors students during whole group activity, making sure that students are on task.
- Supervises students during washroom breaks and snack time
- Provide assistance to children when necessary.
- Helps keep the classroom neat, clean, and orderly. Follows basic sanitation procedures.
- Check students work for compliance with teacher's instructions.
- Helps to arrange and display student work.
- Interacts with students by engaging them in conversation throughout the day.
- Help maintain order in the classroom; monitor students to keep them on task.
- Assist with the assessment and also assist with the preparation of materials for use in the program.
- Hours: 8:30-11:00 Monday- Friday.
