1.0 FTE Elementary Teacher - Title I for Non Public School Partners

Iowa City Community School District is seeking applicants to serve in a Title I Reading support position at one or more of our non-public school partners. The successful candidate will receive a teaching contract through the ICCSD, but will work primarily at non-public schools such as Regina Elementary, Faith Academy and/or Willowwind.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  1. K-6 teaching certification and Reading Endorsement
  2. Successful experience in teaching reading
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with people
  4. Strong organizational skills
  5. Demonstrated involvement in professional growth opportunities
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable .


REPORTS TO : Building Principal

SUPERVISES : N/A

JOB GOALS :

  1. To improve the skills of students so that they will be able to function satisfactorily in the classroom.
  2. To provide individualized or small group instruction for students utilizing a variety of research based methods and materials appropriate to each student's level.
  3. To work cooperatively with the administrators, classroom teachers, coordinators and specialists in providing instruction that will effectively meet the needs of students.
  4. To provide effective communication between teacher and parent with emphasis on providing support to meet student needs.
  5. To work with students in helping them to become lifelong learners.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Collect, analyze, and determine selection of students in collaboration with classroom teachers and building coaches based on assessments.
  2. Assess specific academic needs and work with instructional coach to design individualized instruction
  3. Provide individual and/or small group instruction to identified students
  4. Monitor student progress and adjust the interventions accordingly
  5. Participate in PLC team meetings when needed
  6. Update and keep current all student rosters, records, and interventions received
  7. Attend district and building professional development as scheduled, and Title 1professional development and business meetings as scheduled
  8. Collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, parents, AEA staff, administrator
  9. Provide on-going parent education and communication
  10. Prepare and plan for parent teacher conferences and end of year reports. Complete a "Progress Report" for each student or collaborate with classroom teacher.
  11. Prepare and distribute summer information, such as leveled reading lists, summer library information
  12. Distribute parent surveys to students that have received Title 1 services in Reading or Math. Collect and file.
  13. Other duties as assigned


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
  1. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education.


EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
