Job Summary

Leads and supports EE/SS staff to improve curriculum and instruction. Fosters academic
improvement and encourages unanimity of purpose throughout the system. Works cooperatively with
other district, school-based staffs, and external partners on projects related to continuous academic
improvement.

Essential Functions

1.Supervises and trains assigned staff, conducts performance appraisals, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and coordinates work assignments.

2.Leads and supports curriculum and instructional strategy implementation for school improvement.

3.Assists with coordination of district sponsored programs and professional development to improve teaching and learning. 4.Researches and makes recommendations for instructional materials that meet the learning needs of lower performing schools.

5.Reviews school improvement plans of lower performing schools to assess curriculum alignment with district goals and school needs.

6.Serves as district representative Florida Department of Education meetings. Serves on councils and committees.

7.Assists in developing and implementing EE/SS grants.

8.Prepares, or oversees the preparation of, and submits required reports and maintains appropriate records including budget management.

9.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years successful teaching experience and two (2) years of experience in school-based and/or district-level administration or instructional leadership. Experience in district- level policy and curriculum development preferred.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification required; Certification in Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership preferred.

  • Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies, guidelines, laws, and rules related to school instructional support
  • Knowledge of current district instructional initiatives, safety nets programs and opportunities to improve and enhance student learning
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices in school improvement
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies including using a variety of developmentally appropriate teaching methods appealing to different learners
  • Knowledge of program evaluation techniques
  • Knowledge of leadership strategies
