POSITION SUMMARY:

The Low Voltage Technician installs, configures, tests, and maintains all Life Safety Systems including but not limited to Fire, Burglary, Surveillance Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Access Control Systems, Intercom, Network Clocks, Freezer/Cooler Probes, Audio, Security/HVAC Pressure Sensors, all related cabling, and other systems as assigned. Effectively troubleshoot and repairs faulty equipment or conditions. Responsible for the maintenance and upgrading of all life safety systems' hardware and software. Timely responds to dispatched service calls. Reports issues requiring vendor escalation or parts/materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Performs basic point-to-point troubleshooting on CCTV, Burglar, Fire, Keyless Access and Intercom equipment.
  2. Perform regular preventative maintenance functions and building assessments to include physical inspection, written reporting, and repair of all life safety devices.
  3. Inspect and coordinate work performed by authorized vendors to ensure projects meet scope of work, project specifications, and guideline requirements.
  4. Perform call center duties to include call taking, work order creation, troubleshooting, dispatch, and reporting.
  5. Responsible for maintaining regular communication with supervisor and management staff through the use and check of email, mobile phones, regular team meetings, direct connect device, PDA, work order system, and other communication tools.
  6. Conduct interdepartmental training as required on Freezer/Cooler Probe devices as well as perform basic troubleshooting, installation, and configuration of all other life safety devices to include but not limited to surveillance equipment, keyless access components, intercom systems, IP address validations, analog and digital clocks, fire/burg components, and others as required.
  7. Performs barcoding, camera validations, cable labeling, floor plan mapping, and other inventory activities for all life safety system devices.
  8. Responds as directed to emergency and non-emergency life safety system failures, including fire/burglary system outages and alarm calls.
  9. Manage the time and attendance function in the work order system to input project time, daily work, and leave time requirements; enter ticket status updates; and place materials requests.
  10. Meet or exceed all required productivity goals according to Service Level Agreements, i.e. service call response times, ticket closure status updates, and all others as determined by the Director of Safety and Security.
  11. Collect and maintain an accurate inventory of all in-use life safety equipment, maintain service records, upgrades, and warranty information.
  12. Perform continual skills updates, training, and research to stay abreast of current and emerging related-technologies and product enhancements.
  13. Maintain strong written and effective oral communication skills for both internal and external stakeholders, customers, and peers.
  14. Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure successful resolution to customer requirements in a timely and cost effective manner.
  15. Shift times may vary based on assignments made by the Director of Safety and Security.
  16. Work a rotating on-call schedule.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
  18. Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to maintain and upgrade of all life safety systems ( hardware and software).
  • Able to maintain an accurate inventory of all in-use life safety equipment, maintain service records, upgrades, and warranty information.
  • Knowledge of Fire, Burglary, Surveillance Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Access Control Systems, Intercom, Network Clocks, Freezer/Cooler Probes, Audio, Security/HVAC Pressure Sensors, all related cabling, and other systems.
  • Technical and computer skills. Effective communications skills (written/oral).


Requirements :

EDUCATION:
  • Associates Degree or 2 year college coursework equivalent is required.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
  • Low Voltage licensure preferred
  • CPTED Specialist preferred
  • Valid driver's license required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • One (1)years of relevant work experience.


Compensation :

Salary Grade: 120

Salary Range: FY'21 APS Salary Schedule (All Positions)
