Job Description

Position Overview

Uncommon's Operations Manager is a cultural leader and operations extraordinaire responsible for ensuring an inclusive, positive, and productive work environment for Uncommon's central office staff members. In this role, you will lead the team that manages operations for Uncommon's central office in downtown Manhattan. You will also design and deliver the communications strategy to build community, lead change, and create equitable access to critical information. As a project manager, you will work with senior leaders from across the organization to further Uncommon's mission and our vision for the central office. This position reports to the Senior Director of Special Projects and offers the exciting opportunity to develop professionally within a dynamic and growing organization.

Primary Responsibilities

This full-time role requires on-site work at Uncommon's brand new office in downtown Manhattan.

Team Management
  • Lead and develop a cohesive and high-functioning operations team including a Receptionist and Office Manager to:
    • Manage daily operations and facilities management of Uncommon's 24,000 sq ft central office
    • Ensure all front desk inquiries are addressed in line with Uncommon's high expectations around employee support
  • Support direct reports to develop professionally through coaching and feedback
Project Management
  • Partner with Chief Real Estate Officer, Head of Talent, and Chief of Staff to lead capital projects to expand and redesign office sites
  • Work with Senior Director of Special Projects to coordinate strategic and annual planning for 20 central office teams
  • Set the vision for and manage the 20-person cross-functional Culture Committee responsible for monthly community-building events
Operations Leadership and Facilities Management
  • Lead strategic and annual planning for central office operations
  • Improve efficiency and impact through management of relationships with IT, vendor services, and building management
  • Develop and manage $.5MM budget in accordance with organizational and team priorities
  • Oversee implementation of COVID-19 mitigation measures, informing and communicating evolving policies and protocols
  • Represent central office on cross-functional teams - e.g. related to health and safety, communications, etc.
  • Participate in Uncommon's professional development on operational excellence
Communications
  • Design strategy to deliver communications across multiple platforms to build community, lead change, and create equitable access to critical information, including:
    • Work with senior leaders from across the organization to develop and facilitate central All Staff Meetings

  • Experience developing team or organizational culture with the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience with facilities management, preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • 5+ years of professional experience
