    Position Summary

    The Controller Operations Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of the Designated Funds and Pastoral Center financial statements of the Archdiocese. This includes preparation and analysis of the quarterly reporting required for bondholders and working with our external auditors in the completion of the audited annual financial statements. This position will also be responsible for building out the One Stream reporting tool to enhance analyses supporting the financial statements. Adoption of any accounting standard updates will be led by the Senior Accountant.

    Responsibilities:
    • Preparation of the Designated Funds and Pastoral Center financial statements
    • Provide support for the annual external audit
    • Support the preparation of the Archdiocese of Chicago Consolidated financial statements
    • Further build out and enhance the usage of the One Stream GAAP reporting tool
    • Implement accounting standard updates
    • Expand the analysis of all GAAP financial statements to improve management decision-making
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
    • CPA
    • 3-5 years of accounting experience
    • Public accounting experience a plus
    • Financial statement / footnote preparation experience
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills-ability to lead meetings with Finance and non-Finance members, building confidence and trust.
    • Demonstrated high integrity and ethics in all operations and responsibilities
    • Affinity for mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations and a commitment to serving the Catholic Church in the Chicago area. Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values. Hiring preference will be given to candidates who are Catholic.
