GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for development, facilitation and deployment of programming and initiatives designed to enhance and increase community outreach and engagement, including in part Springfield Public Schools newest program, "SPS University" under the direction of the Chief Equity & Diversity Officer. Also responsible for working with school sites, community partners and other stakeholders to enhance and develop content and programming for outreach and engagement. Develops programming and activities to continuously foster and enhance collaboration.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Lead efforts to develop, facilitate and deploy programming and initiatives designed to enhance and increase community outreach and engagement.

Oversee planning, development and deployment of SPS University district and site programming, including responsibility for all logistics, technology, resources, locations and other requirements as needed.

Develop programming content and work with district leaders and community partners to deliver presentations and events.

Work with the Chief Equity & Diversity Officer to ensure that necessary and appropriate resources are available to develop, deploy, grow and sustain the district's community outreach and engagement programming including SPS University district and site programming.

Collaborate and build capacity with internal and external personnel to develop, implement, sustain, maintain and grow services to further Equity & Diversity programming within the district, with particular focus on those programs that foster greater community outreach and collaboration.

Partner with community and district stakeholders to enhance and create programming to support literacy and numeracy intervention needs to enhance the academic success of underrepresented and under-resourced students.

Collaborate with other district programs focused on academic enrichment, promotion of district programs and supports to coordinate family resource events at district sites to build increased participation of underrepresented and under-resourced students.

Collaborate with Special Services to identify opportunities to further support parents, guardians and caretakers by providing additional access to resources, supports and a general understanding of K-12 Special Education.

Collaborate with English Language Development to further support parents, guardians, and caretakers to understand resources, supports and general understanding of related services.

Partners with Parents and Teachers to further develop strategies to enhance community and family relationships.

Partners with Site Intervention Coordinators and School/Community Liaisons to further provide supports and resources to address school community needs.

Assist the Chief Equity & Diversity Officer with development and execution of Equity & Diversity training for all district staff, leaders and BOE members.

Serve on community committees, taskforces, and in other organizations as requested to enhance the district's partnerships and further the district's equity & diversity efforts, particularly in the areas of workforce development, recruitment, and training.

Respond to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources providing information and/or direction as needed.

Serve as a resource to students, parents, school staff, higher education institutions, families and outside agencies providing information and educational opportunities as needed.

Attend all necessary staff meetings and provide appropriate updates regarding on-going work, partnerships along with required attendance at staff and district events.

Perform other related duties as assigned ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Two (2) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Possession of a valid Driver's License, with evidence of insurability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; and behavioral management strategies.

Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications, planning and managing projects, budgeting and financial management, and developing effective working relationships.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is sedentary work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
