Reports To: SSC Coordinator with guidance from the Building Administrator(s)
Supervises: None
Job Goal: The job of SSC Paraprofessional will work with students referred to the SSC department for intervention in: behavior, academic support, socio-emotional support. as instructed by the SSC Coordinator or the building administrator(s).
Performance Responsibilities include the following:
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: consistently adhering to Board and school policies and practices, operating standard office equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to interpret and understand written procedures, write routine documents, collect data, communicate clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with and interpret a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting patience and compassion; and working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibilities include: working under minimal supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
Experience
No job related experience is required. Experience working with at-risk youth is preferred.
Clearances Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
Required Testing/certification 65 college credits or passing Wonderlic Basic Skills test to considered Highly Qualified

Performance Responsibilities include the following:
- Participate in the documentation of student behavior through SSC.
- Supervise students during lunch detentions, before and after-school detention, and SSC in accordance with the consequence protocol designated in the RHS student handbook.
- Actively participate and support in the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports initiative.
- Actively participate and support in the implementation and use of Restorative Justice.
- Manage, observe, and enforce school behavioral expectations, including attendance.
- Support the discipline process on a day-to-day basis, from incident through resolution and follow-up, based on the RHS student handbook.
- Work with students, administrator, SSC Coordinator to implement discipline as a path toward improved individual choices and decision-making by students, and strengthened school community.
- Communicate regularly with SSC coordinator regarding students disciplinary issues, particularly when undesirable patterns begin to emerge.
- Forge relationships with high school students to encourage retention and build successful relations where students feel safe and open to being listened to.
- Confer with students regarding student related policies.
- Maintain confidentiality pertaining to student information at all times.
- Collaborate with students and parents through the Response to Intervention process as directed by the SSC coordinator or building administrators.
- Assist in the following of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements.
- Any other duties that may be assigned to SSC.
