Job Description

The Chief of Operations is responsible for overseeing the district's core administrative functions, including:
- Capital planning, custodial, and facilities maintenanceTransportation, bus monitors, and crossing guardsRegistration and enrollmentInformation technologyCentral warehouse and logisticsEmergency preparedness and safetyAthletics
The Chief of Operations will be responsible for ensuring the efficient daily operations of key administrative functions. He/she will also be responsible for leading long-term, cross-departmental initiatives that support long-term improvement in service delivery and efficiency. The Chief serves on the Superintendent's cabinet and works closely with the Executive Director of Human Resources, and Executive Director of Finance to coordinate district operations. The Chief of Operations will step in to lead district operations on behalf of the Deputy Superintendent of Operations when necessary.

- Oversee the district's core administrative functions, including:
- Strategy and Leadership:
- Help define, launch, and execute the strategies and oversight related to Administrative Departments and aligned with the District's Turnaround Action Plan (TAP)Participate with other senior staff in strategic planning, policy development, and problem resolution around complex district and school issues and needsContinuously improve strategy and operations (including results, monitoring, and corrective action) to meet strategic objectives and goalsRepresent the Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent at all designated functionsProvide regular reports to the Superintendent on progress, action items, and prioritized concerns and recommendationsPrepare and contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations on strategic issues
- People Management:
- Supervise assigned district leadership including the Directors of School Operations and Student Support (X2), Senior Manager of Facilities, Senior Information OfficerSet goals aligned with district Turnaround Action Plan and provide support and accountability for staff members and departments in achieving those goalsFoster a positive organizational culture and climate, including ways of working that result in labor-management collaboration for improved teaching, learning, and student performance
- Project Management:
- Develop effective and efficient service delivery methods for the district central officeEffectively plan, lead, and monitor cross-department projects for Administrative departments aligned to the Turnaround Action PlanIdentify performance metrics, and leverage data to measure progress and adjust activities
Salary Rate Range
$132,102-$161,153
Requirements
Master's Degree - Educational Leadership or Business Administration or Public Administration preferred
Qualifications
The Chief of Operations must be passionate about the district's students, families, and community success to achieve high-quality systems and education for all its students. The CoA will also have a solid general management / business acumen and possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and leadership skills are critical for the role. Success depends on building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization, particularly school leaders. The CoA must be a strategic leader who is naturally agile, but remains focused in fast-changing situations.
- Proven expertise in day-to-day operations; long-term strategic planning and goals attainment; and sustainable change managementFinancial acumen realizing the "best bang for the buck"Ability to transform general strategic direction into a tactical action plan, with validation from stakeholders, generating choices and opportunitiesStrong ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables and navigate through a certain level of ambiguitySound planning and resource management skillsStrong interpersonal / negotiation skills, to include conflict resolutionDemonstrated ability to operate in a cross-functionalExperience in developing new and uncharted solutions that have significant, direct impact on organization growth and successStrong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skillsSelf-starter who requires a minimum level of supervisory oversightWillingness to travel and work evenings and weekendsSubstantial executive level leadership experience in a large and diverse public entity or related enterpriseManagement consulting experience and /or leadership experience in operations and / or strategy implementation and realization preferredYou must complete the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employmentBilingual PreferredSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
