IMMIGRANT GRANT TUTOR
Split Locations:
Barnum / Winthrop / Fairchild Wheeler / Bridgeport Military Academy

Part Time Position / 19.5 Hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work in small groups with limited English proficient students to help them become proficient in English and reach high academic standards, at a minimum attaining proficiency or better in reading and mathematics.
• Utilize research and district-based curricula, assessment measures and instructional strategies for English Learners
• Implement and enhance academic and content language instruction for English Learners
• Implement and conduct language instruction educational programs/strategies aligned to scientifically-based research demonstrating their effectiveness for increasing English Learner's English proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and comprehending as well as their academic achievement in the core academic subjects.
• Attend professional development designed to improve the instruction and assessment of English Learners
• Use educational technology to enhance the English language instruction
• Communicate regularly with the Bilingual Department to inform about instruction, assessment, and progress-monitoring

REQUIREMENTS:

• Connecticut teaching certification preferred
• Successful teaching experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of instruction, assessment and progress-monitoring
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology for communication and delivery of instruction
• Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese) preferred

SCHEDULE:
October 4, 2021 May 6, 2022

HOURLY PAY:
Certified Staff: $38.50
Non-Certified: $24.00
