PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide teaching staff with individual and group coaching, including professional development, according to the Head Start Coaching Strategy Policy at all of our Head Start/Early Head Start sites and maintain and coordinate learning opportunities in the Makers Spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Education:
Assist and support the Head Start Education Manager in providing professional development to staff.
Under the guidance of the Head Start Education Manager, coach teachers based on feedback from classroom observations to comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
Develop individualized plans with educators that includes goals related to improving outcomes for all children.
Help educators identify steps for achieving goals along with a timeline and the persons responsible for each step. Implement identified strategies according to agreed-upon timelines.
Schedule, plan, and facilitate onsite visits and coaching sessions.
Support coaching teams in development of project-based learning.
Conduct regular classroom observations ensuring fidelity to curriculum and best practices. Ensure that classroom environments and daily routines are appropriate for young children.
Assist the Head Start Education Manager with the required assessment process providing teachers ongoing assistance as needed.
Assist the Head Start Education Manager in assessing the professional development needs based upon observations and assessment of educators, review of outcomes information, and training surveys completed by educators.
Submit verbal/written reports to Head Start Education Manager on the status of education at the individual center a minimum of twice a month.
Collaborate as a member of the Head Start Educational Support Team, including staff working in the areas of health, mental health and disabilities, and family services as needed.
Utilize technology to record data and reports, as well as record videos of teaching practices, and teaching examples, if applicable.
Maker Space Responsibilities
Along with Head Start Education Manager, create sample provocations that teaching teams can use in the Maker Spaces that will allow them to go in depth into the areas of science, art, math, technology, engineering, and light and sensory experiences.
With Head Start Education Manager, determine what materials are needed to keep the Maker Spaces inviting and challenging for children and teachers.
Model for teaching teams how to introduce new skills and knowledge in the Maker Spaces, explore with tools and materials to refine those areas, and scaffold learning based on feedback and reflection.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Early Education or related field required. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in Early Education required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of, and/or experience with, Head Start Performance Standards
Knowledge of CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), Child Plus, and Project Construct
Knowledge of State child care licensing standards

Length of work year: 220 days 8 hours per day/5 days per week)
