Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee training of players in all events in conjunction with the other coaches.
  • Develop training plans for players in conjunction with the other coaches.
  • Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home competitions as directed by the Athletic Director.
  • Contribute to meet line-up planning with other coaches.
  • Attend and coach at all practices.
  • Attend and coach at all meets.
  • Oversee and assist other coaches in monitoring team members' practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance, and grades
  • Oversee and assist other coaches in enforcing team policies.
  • Responsible for providing student-athletes with feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and team skills.
  • Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the sports program
  • Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director.
  • Coordinate off-season training and conditioning for the sports program
  • Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam by the start of the season.
Working Conditions

Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of instructional techniques for competitive sports.
  • Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.
  • If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach's education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student athletes, and parents/guardians.
  • Competitive experience at the high school level.
  • Previous coaching experience with preference for those with prior experience in the specific sport.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement a developmentally appropriate program for student-athletes.
  • Evidence of knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with athletic codes from team players.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise athletic teams with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, and safety.
Desired Qualifications

  • Valid teaching license
  • College playing/coaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully implement sports systems in a high school setting
Physical Requirements

The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
