    TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR
    (Pending availability of funds and Board of Education approval)

    The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Technology Coordinator at Barringer High School.

    Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
    2. New Jersey Permanent Teacher's Certificate.
    3. Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in the Newark Board of Education preferred.
    4. Demonstrated technology experience by any of the following:
    5. Completion of various courses from a college or university in computer technology or education
    6. Previous training and/or demonstrated experience with technology
    7. Demonstrated achievement in using advanced technology application
    8. Possession of a driver's license, valid in New Jersey, only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
    9. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

    Responsibilities
    1. Assists and supports schools and teacher's needs in the infusion of technology.
    2. Participates in activities to encourage students, staff, parents, and community in the involvement of computer technology and its instructional use.
    3. Plans and conducts staff development sessions and workshops for teacher and District staff.
    4. Demonstrates and models the use of effective teaching practices for teachers and administrators in the area of technology.
    5. Demonstrates the use of the specific instruction technology such as scanners, digital and/or video cameras with computer systems as well as productivity tools (i.e., word processor, database, multimedia software, and spreadsheets).
    6. Integrates assistive technology where appropriate in conjunction with the PRC, CST, 504 Committee, etc.
    7. Practices and assists the teaching staff in implementation of responsible, ethical/legal use of technology, information, and software resources.
    8. Establishes and maintains a process of building-level hardware/software inventory, facilities hardware maintenance, and safety resources.
    9. Uses electronic technologies to access and exchange information (e.g., Internet, World Wide Web, etc.).
    10. Updates skills through reading, conferences, workshops, and professional organizations.
    11. Submits various reports such as inventory, staff development, and monthly report.
    12. Performs other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment.
    13. Knowledge and experience with Windows and software.
    14. Knowledge of effective educational theories and practices and their relationship to technology.
    15. Knowledge of the Whole School Reform process and different models.
    16. Knowledge of and ability to implement distance learning including formats, connectivity issues, transmission and equipment alternatives, and applications in the educational setting.
    17. Ability to do troubleshooting on equipment and software.
    18. Ability to assist teacher and administrators to infuse educational technology in curriculum and instruction and to support student achievement through the Core Curriculum Content Standards.
    19. Ability to work well with others and communicate information effectively.

    Salary, Terms & Affiliation
    1. Salary: $52,250 - $89,466
    2. Period: Ten (10) Months
    3. Affiliation: Newark Teachers Union
    *Salary subject to change pending NTU contract negotiations.
