Galvanize is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic Student Development Specialist to be a part of our expanding team. As a member of our Military Business Unit, the Student Development Specialists will help recruit new students and form relationships with military installations that offer our career skills program.

Operation Level Up is an 18-week Software Engineering Immersive program offered exclusively to active-duty military stationed at Fort Hood, Fort Wainwright, Fort Stewart, Fort Carson, Joint Base San Antonio, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. In partnership with local Transition Assistance Programs, Galvanize trains service members in their last six months of active duty service to prepare for a career in Software Engineering upon their transition to civilian life.

Specifically, the Student Recruitment Specialist will host briefings to recruit prospective students, answer questions and assist prospective students in connecting with our enrollment and technical teams, help guide prospective students in their decision-making, and build relationships with the military installation they serve to support our student population growth.

Student Development Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Represents Operation Level Up for targeted constituencies; visits CSP coordination teams and transition assistance teams; speaks to groups and individual prospective students; meets with other transition and veteran constituent groups to promote outreach activities
  • Provides career and academic counseling, planning, and advising to potential students utilizing specific knowledge of Operation Level up admissions standards and outcomes, and the intersection between service member’s transition timelines and course starts
  • Independently develops and maintains partnerships between the military installation, CSP Coordination offices, transition assistance teams, and other identified groups throughout the assigned territory/population
  • Maintains communication with different stakeholders on the enrollment team to ensure a smooth student journey
  • Prepares reports and proposals regarding recruitment and outreach activities, and responds to inquiries from students and other personnel at the military installation
  • Coordinates and hosts at special events such as job and recruitment fairs and related outreach events, utilizing presentation and promotional materials
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and create enthusiasm for Operation Level Up
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
  • Organizing and coordinating skills
  • Ability to analyze course expectations, outcomes, and timelines and offer sound advice
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Experience developing one-on-one relationships with diverse individuals of different backgrounds and abilities
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing, entrepreneurial environment
  • Possesses a strong growth mindset: seeks feedback, admits to and learns from failure, autonomously learns and grows while seeking appropriate support from coworkers and manager
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends
  • Willing to travel to military installations, business, and partner organizations throughout the assigned area
  • Military experience or Military Spouse background is a huge plus

  • This is an office-based position. We are seeking applicants that are able to work in the Lakewood, WA area. We anticipate a typical school office setting including conversation, light foot traffic, computers, etc.
