Amplify is looking for a Learning Scientist specializing in Mathematics Education for Kindergarten through 5th grade to join our team. The person in this role will collaborate with research and product teams on a variety of projects that integrate assessment and instruction within a digital mathematics supplemental curriculum. The ideal candidate will provide theoretical guidance in the design and creation of new assessment and instructional products as well as plan, conduct, and disseminate results of field research studies that provide support for Amplify's mathematics products and services.

Responsibilities of the Learning Scientist:
  • Provide guidance to inform the development of instructional activities and assessments in the mathematics domain, supporting stance with existing research.
  • Collaborate with curriculum and product specialists to define and popularize the theory of action of the curriculum.
  • Liaise with academics and other specialists to acquire additional knowledge and support for product development.
  • Design, conduct, and manage research projects and share results with relevant key partners.
  • Lead efforts for demonstrating product impact and efficacy, including strategies and methods for measurement.
  • Develop research questions and build research design in collaboration with data analysts to ensure data collection is sufficient to support desired analyses.
  • Produce reports, position papers, and manuscripts for internal research purposes, external client review, and publication in peer-reviewed or refereed venues.
  • Attend conferences to disseminate work, refresh knowledge of the field, and present to the team.

Basic Qualifications of the Learning Scientist:
  • PhD/EdD in education, developmental psychology, or other relevant field, with an explicit focus on elementary mathematics education.
  • 2+ years of applied research experience.
  • Research record, including publications and presentations to professional audiences.
  • Some classroom teaching experience.
