    REPORTS TO: Chief of Schools

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Under the direction of The Chief of Schools, The School Turnaround Specialist is responsible for managing the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of school turnaround efforts to ensure improved student achievement in all schools. The incumbent works in schools with principals and central office staff to build strong collaborative relationships and to ensure initiatives are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Turnaround Specialist will report to The Chief of Schools, provides resources and communication, troubleshoot risks and issues, and ensures effective implementation of turnaround strategies.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Certification/License
    • Professional Educator License with endorsement in General Administrative required.
    • Teaching Certification in any of the K-12 spectrum (Elem, Middle, or High) preferred.
    • Successful completion of teacher evaluation modules (Growth, non-growth, and observation) is preferred.
    • Successful completion of The Principal Evaluator Modules is preferred.

    Education/Experience
    • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Administration or related field preferred.
    • Project management experience preferred.
    • K-12 leadership experience preferred.
    • Successful and/or award winning experience as an administrator preferred.
    • Experience and success applying Hatties' Effect Size, School Turnaround, 90/90/90 Effective Schools' Principles, and/or Leverage Leadership research platforms
    • Experience writing and/or managing grants preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy including differentiation, learning styles, etc.
    • Knowledge of curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
    • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to develop and implement projects.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
    • Ability to manage grants and monitor performance.
    • Ability to use data to determine the effectiveness of school programs including but not limited to RTI, School Improvement, and Action Plans.
    • Ability to self start and manage a strategic schedule to meet the needs of all campuses

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Align annual scope of work, goals, schedules and targets to the District's Strategic Plan, and school diagnostic/improvement plans.
    • Support schools in using summative and formative data to diagnose core opportunities for improvement.(5 Essentials, Performance Data, LCDD, Domo, etc.)
    • Monitor school improvement action planning weekly, and provide support and feedback to school teams.
    • Manage and support the goals of school level grants and manage timely budget spending
    • Monitor district protocols for compliance (TDD, Weekly Goal Reports, etc.)
    • Assist with monitoring crisis, attendance and discipline procedures.
    • Support and Monitor campus environments to ensure a safe and orderly school.
    • Manage the effective implementation of school turnaround, and other research
    • Collaborate with central office and school based leadership to develop, implement and/or obtain and provide needed resources, services, and materials for students.
    • Prepare reports, design scenarios and other communication essentials, communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely between schools and central office.
    • Monitor progress of school leaders and initiatives by reviewing documents and work in progress; recommend adjustments and amendments to project plans as needed.
    • Communicate project status, changes, needs, and changes, in a timely and effective manner to appropriate audiences.
    • Identify qualitative and quantitative data to assess performance and inform goals and decision-making.
    • Maintain current knowledge base in the areas of curriculum and instruction, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing achievement gaps, effective project management and communication strategies, all applicable federal and state regulations, and all local district policies and procedures.
    • Provide weekly updates to The Chief of Schools on progress of targeted goals and district initiatives.
    • Provide job embedded professional development, support and coaching to campus principals.
    • Perform other duties assigned by The Chief of Schools.
